Ben Alexander grew up in Northern California. A small driving
range in Montclair, California was to be the training ground.
Ben started hitting golf balls, playing a short par three
course, moving to Southern California he started working at the
driving range as a fourteen year old picking up golf balls and
learning the golf business. Years later, he found himself in
Pebble Beach meeting John Geertsen Jr., the Director of the Golf
Clinic Golf School in Pebble Beach, Ca. John Geertsen’s father,
teacher to the great players Tony Lema and Johnny Miller was the
link Ben needed to learn and John Geertsen Jr., teacher to many
PGA Tour Players was the other link to be the foundation of
Ben’s teaching career. Ben started working at Poppy Hills Golf
Course in Pebble Beach in 1987 and is still teaching at Poppy
Hills, home of the PGA Tour AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am.

"I have learned over the years of teaching that golfers learn
in different ways and coaching is a big part of my teaching
program. After each lesson I ask my student to email me what we
covered in the lesson, the main point we covered, and then send
it to me. I can check to see if the student learned from the
lesson, not necessarily that they can do the change right away,
but to make sure they have a good clear concept of the
adjustment we did. I then send back the email to the student and
then they print out a copy of their lesson for future review.
The next coaching sessions really pay off and the students
progress at their own pace to have more fun with the game of
golf."
Poppy Hills Golf Course in Pebble Beach, California is a state
of the art facility. The key to good learning is having a
facility and an environment where golfers can have fun, learn
and have a total experience which will last them a lifetime.
Poppy Hills has a private teaching range, chipping green,
putting green, bunkers for green side shots and those fairway
bunker shots. Everything here at the facility is about training
and coaching. Ben will put you on a video analysis screen your
first lesson, then after a couple of lessons we will put you on
a split screen and show you the before and after.

Two Day School
is Ben’s favorite!
Ben’s favorite program is the 2-Day Golf School format. It is
offered both in a co-ed and a women only format. With a 4-1
teacher-student ratio, there are 15 hours of instruction plus
the option of playing Poppy Hills in Pebble Beach. Ben
participates in the two-day Golf School.
