A Lesson Learned: The 2008 Sony Open
This week's
Sony Open In Hawaii is one of those tournaments that
just ooze pageantry, history, and celebration. As the
first full-field event of the year, it's a great way to
start each season.
A Lesson Learned: Sony Open
Over the
many years of writing instruction articles for PGA
Magazine and other publications, my main focus has been
to provide a tip or two to help readers play a little
better, but to also stress that they remember to have
fun. Having fun was a major theme of this past week's
PGA TOUR event.
Learn from your scorecard
Many
golfers struggle to play better golf but few lack the
direction to get started on the road to better scores.
One of the first things I do with my students is ask
them what their handicap is. If they say "28," for
example, I then ask them, "Well, where do you think you
are losing 28 shots per round?" Far too often their
answer is, "I don't know."
Avoid the wrong shot in your short game
As we all
know, the short game is where we score or try to score
that low number. But for many high handicappers, this is
where their problems really start. |
